It has taken a lifetime, but I know the true meaning of love and it’s not about lust and sex. The power of love can have a tremendous impact on people everywhere.
Love is categorized in many ways. I would like to refer to three of them. Eros love is characterized by strong feelings for another person and is usually based on some type of physical attraction. It is the romantic phase of love. Philos love is based on friendship between two people. It is brotherly/sisterly love. Agape love is unconditional love. It is selfless love in which a person loves another and does not expect anything in return. The Divine Creators love for us is unconditional.
As I have grown in my understanding of life and my faith and trust in the Divine Spirit, it is much clearer to me what this word love really means. Love is strong and powerful when applied in the right way. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “I refuse to accept the view that humankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood/sisterhood can never become a reality. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word”. As God’s children we will all reach a point where we can love unconditionally.
I love the way that unconditional love is practiced in my blog I have created. I see it lived out in the way in which members of our little community care for each other in the kindness and generosity demonstrated in so many different ways.
I thank the Divine Creator for each of you and the way in which you make our community a reality, “A community connecting people to God and one another through unconditional love.”
Thought for the Week:
“Life is too short to hate. Replace hate and mean spiritedness with love.”
